I am Dr Amy Davies (nee Jenkins), an honorary Research Fellow in the Centre for Innovative Ageing (CIA) at Swansea University. In 2017, I was awarded funding totalling £103,343 for a two-year fellowship from the charity BRACE-Alzheimer’s Research (Bristol). This enabled me to work on a project titled “Characterising Subjective Cognitive Decline”, a continuation of my PhD, working with Personal Chair of Dementia Research and Psychology at Swansea University, Professor Andrea Tales and Dr Jeremy Tree.
Prior to starting my PhD I coordinated the Cognitive Function and Ageing Study (CFAS) in the CIA. Before my time with CFAS I worked at the Cardiff University MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics in the Alzheimer's Disease Research Team.
My BSc (Hons) Psychology degree was from Cardiff Metropolitan University, where I also completed my first masters degree in Sport Psychology. I obtained my second masters at Bath Spa University in Principles of Applied Neuropsychology.
Apart from my most recent employment positions I have also worked as a Primary Mental Health Worker and Assistant Psychologist in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), and as a Research Assistant in the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. Also, I was previously a Research Associate in the School of Medicine at Cardiff University, and Honorary Assistant Psychologist at the Neurorehabilitation Centre in the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases NHS Foundation Trust.
